Could it be Adrenal Fatigue?
SOME OF THE SYMPTOMS MIGHT SURPRISE YOU
When I was in my late 20’s, I was working really long hours, not taking very good care of myself and my body hit a wall. I didn’t know at the time, but my adrenals were completely shot.
Yes, we all have stress in our lives. Not much we can do about that. But when we don’t take care of ourselves, that stress is able to tap our adrenals even more and can cause all kinds of symptoms like:
- excessive perspiration from little activity
- lower back pain
- knee weakness or pain, especially on the side
- dark circles under the eyes
- dizziness
- muscle twitches
- low blood sugar
- heart palpitations
- sensitivity to light or difficulty seeing at night
- salt cravings
- low stamina for stress
- easily irritated
- excessive mood responses after eating simple carbs like pasta, breads and sugar
- chronic infections (bacterial, viral, fungal, yeast)
- low-blood pressure
- light-headed upon standing
- tired, but wired
- poor sleep
- cravings for sweets/carbs
- intolerance to alcohol
- premature aging
- dry, unhealthy skin with excess pigmentation
- lack of libido
- cystic breasts
- tendency to startle easily
- hormonal imbalances
- negative response to thyroid hormone
Supporting our adrenal glands is really important. Not only do they regulate how our body responds to stress, they’re also needed for proper thyroid function and to keep our immune system strong.
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s time to make some changes. Here are seven things you can do every day to support your adrenals, improve your health and feel much better overall:
- Go to bed by 10pm
- Reduce or eliminate stimulants
- Boost nutrition and take supplements
- Avoid sugar and processed carbs
- Drink plenty of filtered water
- Move your body
- Practice active stress reduction
