1. Avoid super long or hot showers – You may want that long, hot shower when it’s really cold, but it can lead to dry, red, scaly, itchy skin. So turn down the temp and set a timer for 5 minutes. Also apply oil or body lotion to damp skin to lock in moisture.
2. Use a thicker moisturizer – Using a heavier hydrating moisturizer on your face and body can really help, especially if you apply it when your skin is damp. You can also apply an oil like jojoba after your moisturizer – works well for your face and body.
3. Only wash face before bed- Washing your face too often can lead to dryness, so once a day is enough. Also switch to a gentle, hydrating cleanser in the winter if you’re not already using one.
4. Moisturize all over and don’t skip your lips – Our hands, feet and lips need some extra protection in the winter. Plus, we’re all washing our hands pretty often these days, so keep a hand cream by each sink.
5. Use a home humidifier- The heat inside our house is really dry too, so using a humidifier can help protect your skin. But don’t overdo it. Setting it to 30-45% is good.
6. Hydrate with warm water- You may not feel as thirsty in the winter, but you still need to drink half your weight in ounces every day. Drink it warm for faster hydration!
Try adding a few of these to your daily routine and your happy, glowing skin will thank you!
